Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Radiology Technologist to join our team at Bon Secours Mercy Health. As a Radiology Technologist, you will be responsible for applying the art and skill of diagnostic imaging through the safe and effective use of ionizing radiation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Obtain patient's clinical history and appropriate lab work to ensure information is documented and available for use by a licensed practitioner.
  • Position and immobilize patients to best demonstrate anatomic areas of interest, respecting patient ability and comfort.
  • Apply principles of radiation protection to minimize exposure to patients, self, and others.
  • Perform radiographic procedures by selecting and operating imaging equipment, and/or associated accessories to successfully perform procedures.
  • Verify informed consent and complete pre and post-procedure documentation.
  • Assist licensed practitioners with fluoroscopic and specialized radiography procedures. Apply appropriate aseptic surgical technique as needed.
  • Perform timeout as required per policy.
  • Identify, prepare, and/or administer medications/contrast as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
  • Receive, relay, and document verbal, written, and electronic orders in the patient's medical record.
  • Evaluate images for technical quality.
  • Document patient dose exposures.
  • Professionally interact with physicians, technologists, physician offices, hospital staff, patient family members, and patients.
  • Operate radiographic equipment and accessories in accordance with the principles of ALARA (as low as reasonably achievable).
Requirements
  • Associate's degree from an ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) accredited institute (preferred).
  • Certification and Registration with ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) (required).
  • State licensure (preferred, unless required by the state where the job is being performed).
  • BLS Basic Life Support, American Heart Association (required at hire for Roper St Francis Healthcare locations; preferred at hire, required prior to independent patient care at BSMH).
  • EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) (preferred).
  • Picture archiving communication system (PACS) (preferred).
  • 1 year experience in radiation safety and patient care (preferred).
  • Experience with Radiology Information System (preferred).
Working Conditions
  • Periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads may occur.
