Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified and dedicated Teacher of the Deaf to join our team at the Colorado School for the Deaf and the Blind. As a member of our education team, you will be responsible for providing standards-based mathematics instruction and other assigned electives to 6-12th grade students who are Deaf/hard of hearing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that meet the needs of Deaf/hard of hearing students
  • Provide assessments that measure student progress and understanding
  • Utilize technology to model, teach, and assist students in the classroom
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement curriculum
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Education or closely related field
  • Master's degree in Education or closely related field, with specialization in Deaf Education, preferred
  • Must hold or be eligible for substitute teacher licensure or educator licensure in the State of Colorado
  • Must hold or be eligible for appropriate educator licensure in the State of Colorado within three years of hire, endorsed as a Special Education Specialist: Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing, Mathematics Middle School (6-8), and Mathematics Secondary
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience teaching/working with children who are Deaf/hard of hearing, or/or who may have multiple disabilities
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) at the Advanced (3+) skill level
