Job Title: Field Researcher

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Field Researcher to join our team at RTI International. As a Field Researcher, you will be responsible for conducting in-person interviews with study participants, collecting data, and ensuring the accuracy and quality of the data collected.

Job Summary:

The Field Researcher will work on a government-sponsored research study, the National Survey of Family Growth (NSFG), which aims to provide national estimates of factors affecting pregnancy and birth rates, and general reproductive health. The Field Researcher will be responsible for:

  • Conducting in-person interviews with study participants
  • Collecting data using a project-provided tablet
  • Ensuring the accuracy and quality of the data collected
  • Managing administrative duties, including participating in conference calls and completing online trainings
  • Transmitting data as scheduled
Responsibilities:

The Field Researcher will be responsible for:

  • Traveling to selected locations to conduct interviews
  • Making in-person contact with study participants to discuss the study, answer questions, and obtain participation
  • Collecting confidential information and administering standardized questionnaires
  • Independently managing administrative duties, including participating in conference calls and completing online trainings
  • Transmitting data as scheduled
Requirements:

To be considered for this position, you must:

  • Be at least 21 years old at time of employment
  • Possess effective communication skills through speech and listening
  • Fluency in English through reading, writing, and speaking
  • Be available for entire training and data collection period
  • Able to successfully complete training
  • Have a valid driver's license and reliable personal automobile available for business use
  • Be comfortable using RTI-issued tablet, laptop, and other associated equipment
  • Access to password-protected WiFi connection for data transmission and administrative responsibilities
  • Able to keep project information confidential
  • Willingness to work in various types of weather conditions and after dark
  • Have a High School Diploma or GED
  • Be comfortable asking survey questions on personally sensitive subject matters
Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred qualifications for ideal candidates include:

  • Positive, self-motivated, curious, and enjoy interacting with people from culturally diverse backgrounds
  • Effective time, schedule, and workload management skills to meet set deadlines
  • Computer skills, namely email and internet proficiency
  • Prior experience working on NSFG or on other surveys that involved interviewing individuals about personally sensitive subject matters
  • Willingness to travel to other areas for short periods of time
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
