We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Public Health Nutritionist to join our team at the Vermont Department of Health. The successful candidate will provide nutritional counseling and breastfeeding support to individuals enrolled in the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) supplemental nutrition program, using culturally competent motivational interviewing.
Key Responsibilities- Provide nutritional counseling and breastfeeding support to WIC clients
- Develop and implement public health interventions to promote healthy eating habits and lifestyles
- Collaborate with community partners to promote health education and outreach
- Participate in outreach and education efforts to promote healthy behaviors and lifestyles
- Conduct assessments and develop follow-up plans for nutritionally high-risk clients
- Bachelor's or higher degree in nutrition, nutritional sciences, community nutrition, clinical nutrition, dietetics, or public health nutrition
- OR applicant in the final semester of a bachelor's or higher degree program in nutrition, nutritional sciences, community nutrition, clinical nutrition, dietetics, or public health nutrition
- Registered Dietitian or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (R.D./R.D.N) preferred
- At least one year of experience providing nutrition education
- Demonstrated ability to implement public health interventions
- Content expertise in nutrition related to women, infants and children
- Comfort using Motivational Interviewing when providing nutrition counseling
- Familiarity or experience with the WIC Program
