Job Summary:

The Vermont Department of Health is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Public Health Nutrition Specialist to join their team. As a key member of the Department of Health, you will play a critical role in providing nutritional counseling and breastfeeding support to individuals enrolled in the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) supplemental nutrition program. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a diverse range of clients, including prenatal and postpartum women, children under the age of five, and their families.

About the Role:

In this role, you will work closely with community partners to develop and implement effective public health interventions. You will provide culturally competent motivational interviewing to support clients in achieving their health goals. Your expertise and experience will be invaluable in helping to reduce health disparities and improve the overall well-being of Vermonters.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Providing one-on-one nutrition counseling and support to clients
  • Developing and implementing public health interventions to address nutrition-related health issues
  • Collaborating with community partners to promote healthy behaviors and outcomes
  • Participating in outreach and education efforts to engage hard-to-reach populations
