Key Responsibilities:

  • Cost Analysis: Analyze the cost structure of our business and extract actionable information that can improve our profitability.
  • Cost Accounting System: Develop and maintain the cost accounting system, documents, and records of the organization.
  • Financial Record Review: Review financial records, research the market rate for key business costs, and adjust the company ledger to accurately reflect balance sheets.
  • Internal Audits: Prepare and complete internal cost audits and comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for financial statements.
  • Cost Variance Analysis: Prepare a report on cost variances, identifying potential areas for cost reduction.
  • Purchase Order Review: Review purchase orders to ensure they are accurate.
  • Financial Budgeting: Manage financial budgets by creating budgets and monitoring actual expenses to ensure compliance with the budget and making adjustments as needed.
  • Cost Monitoring: Monitor and report on cost variances, identifying potential areas for cost reduction.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in cost accounting or a related role.
  • Skills: Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel. Strong understanding of cost accounting principles and practices.
  • Certifications: Professional certification (e.g., CMA, CPA) is a plus.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy. Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Work Environment:

The employee is generally required to spend long periods of time sitting, typing, and working at a computer. May require the ability to occasionally lift and transport items. Accommodation will be made based on ability and accessibility.

Estimated Salary Range:

The estimated base salary range for the Cost Accounting Specialist is $55,700-$61,000.
