Job Summary

NYU Langone Orthopedic Hospital at NYU Langone Health is seeking a highly skilled Surgical Technologist to join our team on a per diem basis. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the surgical suite, providing exceptional patient care, and collaborating with our expert physicians and staff.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the surgical team in preparing the operating room for procedures, ensuring aseptic technique and maintaining a safe and efficient environment.
  • Prepare and maintain sterile instruments and equipment, reviewing surgeons' preference cards in advance to ensure proper case setup.
  • Assist surgeons and the surgical team in positioning patients for surgery, maintaining patient safety and applying principles of body alignment.
  • Collaborate with the operating room team to maintain equipment and supplies, responding to emergencies and changes in assignments with flexibility and adaptability.
  • Perform indirect patient care activities, maintaining a clean and organized operating room and work areas, and restocking supplies and equipment as needed.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1-3 years of operating room experience preferred.
  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program through NBSTSA.
  • Certification exam must be taken and passed within 12 months of completion of surgical technologist program.
  • Working knowledge of the principles of body alignment and BLS training required.
  • Ability to communicate, read, and write English required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associates degree.
  • Bilingual preferred.
