Travel Requirements:

The Community Engagement Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting the Labor and Delivery unit by managing clerical responsibilities associated with patient registration and insurance verification.

Key registration tasks encompass Point of Service Collections, gathering and confirming demographic and insurance details, reviewing health plan benefits, and providing financial assistance resources when necessary.

Ensures precise pre-appointment coordination and registration for expecting or laboring patients and newborns.

Collects and evaluates demographic, insurance, and other relevant information from patients, guarantors, and various sources to guarantee financial clearance for scheduled procedures/services.

Ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements by obtaining patient signatures on documents such as Conditions of Admissions, Privacy Practices, TeleHealth Consents, and more.

Effectively communicates hospital policies governing the revenue cycle, clarifying the amounts owed by patients and explaining the hospital's payment policies.

In the absence of Financial Counselors, the Community Engagement Coordinator will assist patients requiring financial aid and provide information regarding charity care.

Maintains a thorough understanding of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, as well as the Community Memorial Healthcare Organizational Integrity Program and Standards of Conduct, ensuring adherence to ethical and professional standards.

Safeguards HIPAA confidential medical information diligently.

Conducts registration functions in accordance with Federal, State, and Local regulatory agencies and payer requirements, alongside organizational policies and procedures, including but not limited to HIPAA privacy and EMTALA practices, DNV, and the No Surprises Act (NSA) mandate.

Collaborates with various hospital departments to resolve issues while analyzing necessary information to ensure hospital reimbursement and a seamless patient experience.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 1-3 years of experience in hospital or emergency department patient registration
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)

Preferred Experience:

Experience in a hospital or clinic environment, health insurance company, managed care organization, or other healthcare financial service settings, focusing on medical claims processing, financial counseling, financial clearance, accounting, or customer service.

Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology is advantageous.
