Job Summary

The Clinical Specialist is a key member of our team, responsible for ensuring a seamless patient experience. This role involves preparing patients for examinations, completing pre-exam diagnostic tests, and explaining each step of the process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Complete patient registration and gather pertinent patient information, including medical history and ocular health data.
  • Assist onsite doctors with patient care and eye examinations, clearly explaining the preliminary testing process to patients.
  • For remote appointments, assist patients through the remote eye exam process, including pre-testing, specialty testing, and documenting results.
  • Transition patients to retail associates, conveying doctor recommendations and scheduling appointments as needed.
  • Have a strong understanding of MVC plans and articulate plan benefits to patients.
  • Preauthorize insurance in accordance with standard operating procedures.
  • Maintain patient flow to allow for doctor effectiveness and answer patients' clinical questions in person and over the telephone.
  • Triage ocular emergencies and schedule annual eye exams.
  • Maintain complete and accurate patient records according to Company standards.
  • Instruct patients on contact lens insertion, removal, cleaning, care, and proper handling.
  • Place diagnostic contact lens orders and stock, notifying patients when lenses are available.
  • Ensure a clean and healthy environment for patients by maintaining doctor equipment and clinical supplies.
  • Participate in specialized training and complete required clinical certification(s).
Requirements
  • One year of related experience in optical or healthcare.
  • Medical office/business professionalism required.
  • HS diploma, GED, or equivalent related job experience.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including travel to other locations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Optical or healthcare background.
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
  • Ability to work under stress with interruptions and deadlines.
  • Team player with problem-solving skills and ability to multitask.
Work Environment

This role requires working in a fast-paced environment, using computers, electronics, and pre-testing instruments. The associate must be able to stand, walk, and reach above shoulder level, and occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.

The noise level in this location is moderate, and the associate must be able to work in a clean and healthy environment.
