Job Summary:

As a Sterile Processing Lead at North Carolina Specialty Hospital, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest standards of patient care and safety. Under the supervision of the Surgical Services Director, you will oversee the daily operations of the Sterile Processing Department, ensuring proper care and maintenance of all surgical instrumentation, equipment, and sterilization processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure proper care and maintenance of all surgical instrumentation, equipment, and sterilization processes
  • Demonstrate good knowledge of principles and practices of aseptic techniques
  • Communicate effectively with Operating Room staff, including communicating special equipment needs as they arise
  • Provide on-going and continual communication with Operating Room staff
  • Collect, review for accuracy, and store all documentation required for verification of decontamination/sterilization as required by regulatory bodies, and NCSH policy
  • Verify performance and documentation of QI for SPD process and equipment
  • Ensure all QI is performed at required intervals
  • Maintain logs for QI testing and daily monitoring
  • Collect data and prepare reports to support Performance Improvement recommendations for equipment and instrument purchases
  • Staffing of department adequately for daily schedule
  • Review and revise policies and procedures as needed and on required intervals
Requirements:
  • High School diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent experience
  • Completion of Sterile Processing Program from an accredited institution or equivalent clinical experience in SPD
  • Certification required for Supervisor position along with 3-5 years of experience in SPD department
  • Effective communication skills; both orally and written
  • Computer skills needed
  • Ability to work with others within a team to ensure quality patient care
  • Strong critical thinking skills
