Position Overview:

The role of a Television Broadcast Engineer encompasses critical responsibilities in the realm of live news production. This position demands proficiency in various technical areas including Master Control operations, audio management, video editing, signal acquisition, and ENG/SNG communications. The ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic news environment, demonstrating a solution-oriented mindset while effectively collaborating with both technical and non-technical personnel.

Key Responsibilities:

- Operate Master Control and associated automation systems, ensuring seamless production audio and video editing.
- Manage field camera equipment, including drones, and direct live newscasts and segments.
- Utilize automated cameras, CG graphics, and editing software such as Premiere.
- Demonstrate expertise in Ross OverDrive automation or similar systems.
- Coordinate with the news department to fulfill live-shot requirements and scout optimal locations for signal strength and safety.
- Oversee the operation of video and audio switchers, recorders, and various electronic news gathering equipment, including IP and cellular devices.

Qualifications:

- A minimum of 2-4 years of experience in Broadcast Engineering, particularly in live news or talk show settings.
- Strong understanding of live newscast production processes.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Valid state driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Flexibility to work various hours and shifts as required.

Physical Requirements:

- Capability to lift and transport heavy equipment, including cable reels and monitors, weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to climb ladders up to 15 feet and work under pressure in diverse environments.
- Proficient vision corrected to 20/20, crucial for operating ENG/SNG vehicles and ensuring safety.
- Capacity to move swiftly in breaking news situations and navigate multiple flights of stairs while carrying equipment.
- Willingness to work outdoors and on rooftops in varying weather conditions.

This position is integral to the operations at Nexstar Broadcasting Group, where the successful candidate will contribute to delivering high-quality news coverage.
