Job Summary:

The NICU Respiratory Therapist provides diagnostic and therapeutic treatment to patients in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. This role involves performing evaluations, documenting patient assessments, and providing education to patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provides diagnostic and therapeutic treatment to patients in the NICU.
  • Documents patient assessments and evaluations.
  • Provides education to patients and their families.
  • Identifies significant changes in patient condition and takes appropriate action.
  • Completes all documentation, including order entry, verification, and electronic medical record (EMR) charting.
  • Processes patient charges and runs reports as needed.
  • Performs preventative maintenance on respiratory equipment and tags equipment in need of repair or maintenance.
  • Transports infants to and from referral health systems.

Certifications and Requirements:
  • Respiratory Therapist certification from the North Dakota State Board of Respiratory Care.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification from RQI Partners.

Working Conditions:

This role requires frequent standing, walking, and stooping. The therapist must be able to lift medium-weight objects and handle respiratory equipment. The working conditions are primarily indoor, with occasional outdoor activities.
