Protective Security Specialist

**Job Summary**

In accordance with DHS protocols, the armed guard force is responsible for ensuring the security and safety of personnel, property, facilities, and assets. This includes providing security protection and access control, as well as safeguarding against sabotage or other incidents that may jeopardize normal operations.

**Key Responsibilities**

  • Provide security protection and access control for government property, classified material, and personnel.
  • Report and respond to unusual or emergency situations.
  • Be alert for potential security, property, or safety concerns and initiate appropriate actions.
  • Control ingress/egress into and/or out of posted/controlled/security areas.
  • Prevent and report all violations of security and safety rules and regulations.

**Requirements**

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident.
  • Must have a minimum of two (2) years of security (armed) experience or one (1) year of law enforcement experience.
  • Must have firearms training and qualifications, and company certifications that meet state/federal certifications.
  • Must be able to fluently speak, read, comprehend, and compose coherent written reports in English.
  • Must be physically capable of standing a 12-hour post.

**Working Conditions**

Work is typically in a busy office environment and subject to frequent interruptions. Extended hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, may be required. May be subject to outdoor conditions, including extreme temperatures and weather.

**Physical Requirements**

Heavy work: Exerting up to 200 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Must have visual and audio acuity to heavy equipment, machines, firearms, and clearing barrels.
