JOB OVERVIEW - Lunar Rover Operations Integration Specialist
Qualified Technical Services is at the forefront of lunar exploration, collaborating with leading industry partners to facilitate our return to the Moon's surface. This initiative marks a significant milestone since the last lunar missions in 1972, as we embark on groundbreaking explorations of the Lunar Polar regions. Our endeavors will encompass both human and robotic missions, and we invite you to be part of the team that is orchestrating the first robotic lunar polar surface exploration. We are committed to designing a mission aimed at prospecting for water ice in the Moon's polar areas.
We are seeking a skilled Rover Operations Integration Specialist to join our esteemed VIPER Mission System Team. In this role, you will be instrumental in the design and strategic planning of rover operations, as well as the formulation of mission execution plans. Your responsibilities will encompass all facets of operations, including driving, command and control, rover systems management, and contributing to rover design for optimal operability. You will also define the roles of the rover mission operations team and establish operational processes.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Designing rover operations processes and procedures
- Developing flight rules and command procedures
- Creating timeline inputs for mission execution
- Representing Mission Operations to the rover design and engineering teams
QUALIFICATIONS - Lunar Rover Operations Integration Specialist
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years in spacecraft operations on missions that have been executed, including real-time command and control in Earth orbit, Cis-Lunar space, or sequenced operations on planetary surfaces.
Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
Skills and Attributes:
- Over 4 years of experience in rover operations on executed space missions, with a focus on rover operational process development, including:
- Mission rules
- Procedures
- Mission Timelines
- Operational Processes
- Command Procedures
- Experience in the development, testing, and simulation of spacecraft and rover operations
- Proven ability to represent mission operations in spacecraft design discussions
Preferred Skills:
- Comprehensive mission experience, from design through operational execution
- Experience in training for rover operations on executed missions
