Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate independently under general supervision to meet laboratory demands as they arise.
  • Conduct and evaluate clinical laboratory tests on specimens for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes promptly.
  • Exhibit a thorough understanding of the organization’s Service Standards and integrate them into daily operations.
  • Support the supervision of technical staff and assist the supervisor as needed.
  • Oversee compliance with the organization’s Service Standards among laboratory personnel.
  • Manage the processing of microbiology specimens throughout all analytical phases.
  • Prepare specimens for testing and perform both manual and automated analyses on blood, urine, and other bodily fluids in accordance with established protocols.
  • Analyze, interpret, and report test findings accurately.
  • Monitor laboratory equipment, solutions, and the work environment by adhering to Quality Control Procedures to ensure the reliability of test outcomes.
  • Assist in inventory management and ensure efficient adaptation to changes for optimal staffing and priority management.
  • Provide training for new and existing staff members.
  • Maintain adherence to safety protocols and technical manuals.
  • Participate in continuing education and complete required professional development credits annually.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:

Possession of a valid license as a clinical laboratory technologist, cytotechnologist, or histotechnologist issued by the NYSED.

To qualify for Level III, candidates must have at least one year of full-time paid experience as a technologist in a clinical laboratory or blood bank, in addition to meeting the requirements for Assignment Level II.
