Position Overview

The Parts Counterperson plays a crucial role in assisting customers from various sectors, including independent repair shops, government entities, and fleet operations. This position requires a proactive approach to meet customer needs effectively.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Handle incoming phone inquiries
  • Assist walk-in clients by understanding their requirements and providing suitable solutions
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing customers while exploring new business opportunities
  • Utilize electronic parts catalogs and online resources to fulfill customer requests
  • Communicate professionally and courteously with both customers and team members
  • Efficiently discuss the status of parts with customers
  • Accurately read and interpret parts catalogs
  • Provide pricing information and other relevant details to customers
  • Verify the accuracy of parts ordered against body shop estimates
  • Deliver exceptional service to both internal and external clients
  • Process orders from inventory and conduct regular stock checks
  • Inform the parts manager of any out-of-stock items or urgent needs
  • Source out-of-stock parts from external suppliers and place emergency orders as necessary
  • Ensure all internal parts requests are billed correctly
  • Collect payments from retail customers or obtain necessary credit approvals
Qualifications:

Essential Skills:
  • Availability to work from 8 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday to Friday, with occasional Saturdays
  • Willingness to undergo drug screening and background checks
  • Excellent communication abilities
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Friendly and professional demeanor
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience in automotive parts is preferred
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer
  • Capability to lift up to 25 lbs
  • Ability to bend to retrieve inventory
