Job Summary

Fives Group is seeking a highly skilled Sales Engineer to join our team. As a Sales Engineer, you will play a key role in creating high-value customer proposals for precision grinding systems with advanced processes.

You will collaborate with our applications, innovations, and engineering teams, as well as the customer, to develop the best technical and commercial solution for the application.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate sales inquiries and opportunities to determine the best technical and commercial solution for the customer's application.
  • Analyze and determine production requirements for targeted solutions and develop specific proposals for quotation to prospective customers.
  • Utilize Salesforce, SAP, Adept, and other important data to complete tasks accurately and expeditiously.
  • Communicate with automation and equipment vendors to establish ancillary equipment needs and receive vendor quotations for project pricing.
  • Contribute to the development of the strategy, technical differentiators, and Landis value proposition to win the order.
  • Present proposals to customers as a subject matter expert.
  • Develop project budgets, write machine factory orders, and lead subsequent order line-up meetings and launches.
  • Maintain a log of activities organized per department protocols and business systems.
  • Represent Fives Landis Corp. as an industry leader to customers, suppliers, professional colleagues, and employees.

Requirements:

  • College education or equivalent in practical experience with precision grinding technology and/or the grinding process in the manufacturing industry.
  • High analytical, organizational, and conceptual skills in identifying, planning, and implementing a course of action to achieve goals.
  • Ability to sift through facts and opinions, combine and organize existing ideas, and develop a structured approach to problem-solving and solution-based proposal completion.
  • Ingenuity and creativity to translate ideas into accurate proposals; sound judgment in selection of vendors, design, layout, components, tooling, etc.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work under self-imposed schedules and standards, collaborating with the wider team and other subject matter application experts.
  • Quality and cost consciousness, with the ability to objectively evaluate errors and implement processes that achieve our goals of on-time delivery, profitability, and customer satisfaction.
  • Understanding of the wider teams within the company, corporate structures, and their respective goals and directives, objectives, and responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of budgets, margins, burden rates, and profit and loss statements relative to each project.
  • Ability to develop and maintain updated knowledge of the competition, their processes, and market prices.
  • Continuous mental and visual attention for varied details under pressure of interruptions, complications, changes, and schedule demands.
  • Normal office environment with visits and exposure to shop environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams.
  • General and hands-on knowledge of Landis mechanical, electrical, software, grinding process, tooling, application design standards.
  • Ability to observe confidentiality.
