Role Overview

This exciting opportunity for a Commercial Construction Senior Project Engineer has arisen with one of the most reputable General Contractors in Metro Detroit. As a key member of the project team, you will be responsible for assisting the Project Manager in all phases of construction and ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality.

Job Responsibilities

The successful candidate will have the following responsibilities:
  • Assist the Project Manager in all phases of construction, including planning, execution, and completion.
  • Write, submit, and distribute Requests for Information (RFI's) as required.
  • Review and understand subcontract documents relevant to assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Notify management of significant project events, including successes, issues, injuries, client relations, potential losses/claims, and changes to the scope of work.
  • Work closely with owners and clients to provide updates, obtain approvals, and complete change orders for scope revisions.
  • Assist in documenting changes, maintaining project records, redline transfers, and correspondence.
  • Ensure that all work is performed in compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations.
  • Monitor project costs to stay within budget.


Requirements and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
  • 2+ years of experience working as a Project Engineer on industrial, automotive, commercial, and higher education projects.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or a related field preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage administrative construction duties, including document control.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.


What We Offer

In return for your expertise and dedication, we offer a competitive salary range of $85,000 - $110,000 per annum, based on experience, plus a bonus of at least $10-15K, mileage reimbursement, end-of-year profit sharing, and a comprehensive benefits package, including Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO/HMO, 401(k) with 6% match, maternity/paternity leave, training and mentorship program, tuition reimbursement, and opportunities for career advancement.
