Senior Data Scientist

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Data Scientist to join our team at the Center for Disease Neurogenomics at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with Dr. Burstein and senior leadership to advance our research in machine learning, brain genomics, and neurodegenerative disorders.
Responsibilities- Apply machine learning methodologies to identify patterns in large and complex datasets of genomic and electronic health record data.
- Automate data processing pipelines for performing genome-wide association studies.
- Implement novel statistical strategies and algorithms for mitigating disparities in genomic research.
- Maintain code repositories to promote reproducible research.
- Present results in scientific conferences and academic journals, leveraging data visualization techniques to communicate complex findings.
We are looking for a highly qualified candidate with a strong background in data science, statistical analyses, and machine learning techniques. Prior experience analyzing large biological or electronic health record datasets is strongly preferred. Advanced knowledge of genetics and/or statistical analysis software and online resources is also required. Strong programming skills in Python and/or R are essential, and experience with SQL and code repositories using git is highly desirable.
