Job Summary:

Kaiser Permanente seeks a skilled and experienced Charge Registered Nurse to lead our healthcare team and coordinate departmental operations. As a key member of our nursing team, you will be responsible for ensuring quality patient care in a safe and healing environment. You will demonstrate responsibility and accountability for your professional practice, possess clinical skills to be an expert resource, and be available and supportive to employees.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Direct and coordinate the work of at least three (3) or more employees, including at least one (1) Registered Nurse.
  • Apply the KP Nursing mission, vision, values, and behaviors in daily practice.
  • Understand needs and set priorities for the department.
  • Provide professional leadership and direction of department personnel to maintain efficient delivery of effective patient care.
  • Coordinate departmental operations and delegate tasks appropriately.
  • Support and enhance the leadership skills of staff RNs, LVNs, UAs/CNAs, and other ancillary staff.
  • Uphold compliance with Kaiser Permanente's Policies and Procedures, Principles of Responsibilities, applicable state and federal laws and regulations, and accreditation and licensure requirements.
  • Act as a resource, preceptor, and mentor to new employees, registry, students, and other team members in department-specific operations and patient care activities.
  • Collaborate with or refer to manager/clinical nurse specialist/educator any outstanding issues or concerns on the unit.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, policies, procedures, and standards of practice.
  • Participate in activities related to patient flow, including admission and discharge processes.
  • Facilitate inter-professional/interdisciplinary communication and collaboration.
Nursing Process:
  • Serve as a resource for clinical concerns, scope of practice, and applicable state and federal regulations as well as operational concerns of providers and staff.
  • Possess experience and skills to be a resource for providers, RNs, LVNs, UAs/CNAs, and other ancillary staff.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in work schedule to meet department demands of the day; facilitate and relieve staff breaks.
  • Actively involved in assigning, orienting, precepting, and coaching staff as needed.
