Job Summary:

The Control Room Engineer is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of all manual, automatic, and material handling equipment in the production facility. This role requires a strong understanding of industrial automation systems, quality control procedures, and safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain industrial equipment, including automated systems and material handling equipment, to ensure optimal production efficiency and quality.
  • Monitor and report any food safety and quality issues to the immediate supervisor and quality technician.
  • Responsible for the overall safety, quality, and efficiency of the work center.
  • Comply with all company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and SQF standards.
  • Review and start production orders in the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and Simatic batch.
  • Review and compare recipes in master control and MES.
  • Communicate with maintenance about necessary improvements and regular preventive maintenance (PM) schedules.
  • Make manual adjustments to recipes that are incorrect and could cause hold product.
  • Identify and support streamlining projects to improve production when applicable.
  • Suggest adjustments to staff to gain maximum production and identify production changes and suggest corrective actions.
  • Able to work overtime and weekends, and work 3rd shift.
  • Support and direct all operators to ensure production is not impeded throughout the shift.
  • Understand and report through the Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) system, review and analyze major downtime (DT) and propose solutions.
  • Perform cleans on the line and inspections.
  • Must be able to train new control room technicians and support all departments in the plant, including any new expansion projects.
  • Support and engage with all departments that are not meeting Quality and Efficiency Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) by leading Root Cause Analysis (RCA) efforts and continuous improvement projects.
  • Create troubleshooting documentation and help train on best practices.
  • Consume and close MES production orders.
  • Perform any other duties as instructed by management.

Requirements:

  • Education: Preferred Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering) or minimum High School or GED.
  • Work experience: Maximum 2 years of experience in an industrial or food production facility.
  • Basic computer literacy and understanding of operating systems, ability to work with Excel.
  • Ability to learn computer systems (experience with MES, SAP, Siemens PCS7, Simatic batch, OEE preferred).
  • Must pass company physical when required.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to communicate both orally and in written form in English.
  • Must be able to use production computer screens as instructed.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to read and understand system instructions and training materials and show the ability to execute.
