A custodian at HES Facilities plays a crucial part in upholding the cleanliness, safety, and functionality of school environments, ensuring that each school day proceeds seamlessly and students can concentrate on their education. Beyond standard maintenance tasks, the school custodian offers direct assistance to educators in the arrangement and upkeep of furniture and equipment.

Job Skills / Requirements:
  • HES is seeking custodians for immediate hiring. Positions are available across various educational institutions.
  • No prior experience is necessary.
  • Opportunities for Lead Custodians and Supervisors are also available, with increased pay rates upon promotion.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Perform sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, scrubbing, and waxing of floors.
  • Utilize machines for carpet shampooing.
  • Clean walls, vents, screens, furniture, drinking fountains, light fixtures, window blinds, brass, and other interior fixtures.
  • Wash both interior and exterior windows and glass doors.
  • Maintain entryways, empty exterior cigarette urns, and manage trash disposal outside building entrances.
  • Sanitize restrooms, including sinks and toilets, and replenish supplies.
  • Change accessible interior light bulbs.
  • Complete work requests to inform management of necessary repairs.
  • Remove snow and ice and apply de-icing agents as required.
  • Organize and supply custodial storage areas as needed.
  • Assist in moving, removing, or setting up furniture and equipment for special events as directed.
  • Perform additional job-related tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend at a level suitable for the position's duties.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Capability to work effectively with a diverse group of individuals.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to push, pull, stand, bend, stoop, and kneel.
  • Walk for up to 8 hours daily.
  • Climb ladders and stairs as needed.
  • Proficient in using basic hand tools.
