The Grooming Specialist plays a vital role within our facility, reporting directly to the General Manager. Most importantly, candidates should have experience in grooming or bathing a variety of dog and cat breeds. The primary duty is to ensure that every pet in your care receives a grooming service that meets or surpasses the expectations of their owners while prioritizing the physical and emotional well-being of the animals.


A Day in the Life:
This position is crucial for the well-being of our pets and their families. You will enhance their experience by ensuring they look and feel their best. You will contribute to their health by maintaining clean and well-groomed animals. Daily tasks will include grooming pets with scheduled appointments, accommodating walk-ins, and attending to pets in our care. Your responsibilities will involve performing complete grooming services, simple baths, and occasionally addressing urgent cleaning needs. You will interact with both the pets and their owners, documenting observations that may help in identifying health concerns. Expect to engage in various cleaning tasks and receive plenty of affectionate interactions from the pets.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver a positive grooming experience for pets, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being.
  • Complete grooming or bathing services according to the specifications provided by pet owners, ensuring timely service delivery.
  • Collaborate with Resort Hosts to manage grooming appointments, including onboarding new clients and discussing vaccination requirements.
  • Engage with clients to clarify grooming instructions after assessing their pets' needs, and provide feedback post-grooming.
  • Respond promptly to all client communications, fostering relationships and encouraging repeat business.
  • Address customer service issues effectively to ensure client satisfaction.
  • Maintain grooming tools in optimal condition and regularly check for safety hazards.
  • Notify management promptly regarding supply needs.
  • Uphold cleanliness and hygiene standards in your workspace, including thorough cleaning and disinfecting routines.
  • Monitor the health of pets during grooming sessions and report any concerns to management and pet owners.
  • Ensure pets have access to water and bathroom breaks during extended stays.
  • Follow safety protocols when handling pets, especially those that may be aggressive or anxious.
  • Adhere to pricing guidelines and obtain approval for any additional services.
  • Communicate effectively with pet care staff regarding the pets in your care.
  • Ensure proper identification procedures are followed for pets.
  • Manage laundry and other cleaning tasks efficiently.
  • Collaborate with other departments as needed.

Team Qualities:

  • A genuine passion for animal care, particularly for dogs and cats, with a willingness to learn about animal behavior.
  • Commitment to safe and gentle handling practices.
  • Strong customer service orientation, with the ability to manage challenging situations with professionalism.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to build lasting relationships with clients.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and handling pets of various sizes.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Strong attention to detail, especially in documentation and grooming standards.
  • Reliability and punctuality are essential.

Qualifications:
Education: Professional Grooming Certifications are preferred but not mandatory.
Experience:

  • Two to four years of professional grooming experience is preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of breed standards and grooming techniques.
