Job Summary

The Manufacturing Team Member - Steel Framing Specialist will play a critical role in the production process at ClarkDietrich, a leading manufacturer of cold-formed steel framing and interior and exterior finishing products in North America.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safely set up, operate, and adjust metal forming equipment using appropriate tools and procedures.
  • Ensure mill operating procedures are followed and the mill is maintained in good condition.
  • Operate cutback saws in a safe manner and to order specifications.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work station, including the mill and surrounding area.
  • Perform change overs, using appropriate tooling, and change punches and shear dies as needed.
  • Meet machine goals and demonstrate a willingness to assist in training co-workers.
  • Work in a team environment and perform other duties as assigned.
Safety Protocols
  • Work safely and follow all safety rules and operational procedures.
  • Perform Lockout Procedure as required by mill specific Lockout JSA.
  • Wear and maintain all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Understand all safety devices and their operation.
  • Notify management if safety devices are malfunctioning or missing prior to machine operation.
Quality Control
  • Perform quality checks, including:
  • Using a tape measure to check length, width, and hole spacing.
  • Using a micrometer to measure thickness of the product periodically.
  • Checking for straightness, bow, and camber.
  • Checking part dimension using appropriate tools.
  • Maintaining all quality paperwork in a legible manner.
Maintenance and Housekeeping
  • Perform routine maintenance and notify maintenance personnel concerning any machine issues that might slow down production, cause a safety concern, or lead to further maintenance problems.
  • Assist maintenance personnel as directed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work station.
Requirements
  • Mechanically inclined.
  • Problem solver.
  • Team oriented.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior manufacturing experience.
  • The military equivalent will be recognized in lieu of education and/or experience.
Physical Requirements
  • Lifting: Up to 50 lbs.
  • Standing: 8 or more hours per day.
  • Walking: Off and on, 4-6 hours per day.
  • Body Positions: Squatting, bending, flexing, and extending both arms.
  • Grasping: Both hands, up to 8 hours per day.
  • Sitting: None.
  • Pulling: Tools and finished product, up to 15 lbs.
  • Climbing (ladders/stairs): Occasionally.
Mathematical Skills
  • Basic mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and converting fractions into decimals.
  • Ability to read a tape measure, caliper, and micrometer accurately.
Work Environment
  • Manufacturing facility - exposed to heat and cold.
  • Personal Protective Equipment required at all times.
  • Noise-controlled environment.
  • Activity level is high - continuous overhead crane and forklift movement.
