Position Overview: The Security Specialist serves as a crucial resource for information and assistance to patients, visitors, and staff within the hospital environment. It is essential for the specialist to maintain a professional, supportive, and positive demeanor when interacting with all stakeholders. The primary responsibility includes executing security protocols, responding to alerts, and managing emergencies such as fires and disasters. The core objective is to safeguard personnel, visitors, patients, and property in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular patrols of hospital premises to ensure safety for patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Manage and monitor individuals exhibiting aggressive behavior.
  • Investigate security incidents and document findings in incident reports.
  • Maintain a daily log of activities and incidents.
  • Control access to various buildings on the hospital grounds.
  • Participate in fire and emergency response teams.
  • Enforce hospital parking regulations.
  • Exhibit a compassionate and professional demeanor when interacting with all customers.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in responding to aggressive behavior, employing verbal de-escalation techniques and, if necessary, physical restraint.
  • Execute hazardous patient decontamination procedures, identifying risks, selecting appropriate personal protective equipment, and managing contaminated materials.

Physical and Sensory Requirements:

Candidates must meet specific physical demands of the role, including the ability to sit for up to eight (8) hours per day, stand for up to eight (8) hours per day, and walk for extended periods. Frequent handling and firm gripping of equipment are required, along with occasional lifting of objects exceeding 200 pounds with assistance. The role also involves occasional bending, crouching, and reaching above shoulder level. Adequate hearing for normal conversation and visual acuity for general and color vision are necessary.

Education:

A high school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) is required.

Training and Experience:

Prior experience in security or related fields, along with customer service skills, is preferred. Weekend availability is mandatory for this position.
