Job Summary: As a skilled Communications Technician at CaroMont Health, you will be responsible for installing, repairing, maintaining, programming, and servicing telecommunications systems and equipment in a competent and skilled manner. This includes making all adds, moves, and changes as required for the Avaya/Nortel PBX, Call Pilot Voice mail, Avaya Contact Center, and wireless Spectra link phones. You will also be responsible for properly operating and maintaining installation/service tools and equipment, as well as installing, repairing, programming, and maintaining Rauland Responder Nurse Call systems. Additionally, you will maintain cable TV infrastructure and assist other technicians with replacing patient TVs as necessary. You will also be responsible for replacing and making changes to pagers as necessary, and completing installation of systems required for projects as determined by the Director. You will provide reports, complete requests for new service, determine methodology for installing telephones and telephone service, and determine appropriateness of moderate equipment changes or modifications necessary to switches, trunks, and other links. You will also assist with maintaining EPIC Devices required for successful device integration, and keep the Supervisor informed on progress of work and any problems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, repair, maintain, program, and service telecommunications systems and equipment
  • Make all adds, moves, and changes as required for Avaya/Nortel PBX, Call Pilot Voice mail, Avaya Contact Center, and wireless Spectra link phones
  • Properly operate and maintain installation/service tools and equipment
  • Install, repair, program, and maintain Rauland Responder Nurse Call systems
  • Maintain cable TV infrastructure and assist with replacing patient TVs as necessary
  • Replace and make changes to pagers as necessary
  • Complete installation of systems required for projects as determined by the Director

  • Determine appropriateness of moderate equipment changes or modifications necessary to switches, trunks, and other links

Qualifications: An associate's degree or equivalent work experience of at least four years in a Communications-related field or equivalent experience is required. At least one year of experience in maintaining and repairing communication equipment in a large facility, such as telephones, telephone lines, and accessories, as well as experience with Call-Pilot voice mail, ACD systems, SIP's, PRI's, Metro E connectivity, is also required. Understanding of audio/visual installation and broadband systems as it relates to cable TV signals is necessary. The ability to install category 5E or above cabling and/or copper and fiber optic as necessary is also required. The following certifications are desirable: Rauland-Borg Nurse call Technician Certification, Spectra link Installer/Maintainer Certification, and any Avaya/Nortel support specialist certifications.
