Job Title: Travel Nurse RN Med Surg

Tact Staff is seeking a skilled Travel Nurse RN Med Surg to join our team in Haines, Alaska.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality clinical services, working collaboratively with providers, clinic staff, and management to ensure excellent patient care and efficient resource utilization.
  • Lead and direct clinic staff to ensure efficient operation of all aspects of the clinic, including front desk and patient care.
  • Maintain medication inventory and supplies not on the Warehouse PAR system.
  • Ensure quality control checks are performed on Point of Care tests.
  • Document all care and services provided in a clear and accurate manner, completing nurse duties professionally and in a timely manner.
  • Oversee the opening and closing of provider clinics.
  • Communicate effectively with other departments to ensure efficient and quality patient care.

Position Complexities:

  • Maintain skill sets, annual competencies, certifications, and participate in in-services and educational programs within the Clinic, hospital, and/or community as assigned.
  • Complete all mandatory training and attend staff meetings.
  • Adhere to infection control policy and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment, including adequate supplies and upkeep of unit and equipment.
  • Report any defective or missing equipment and safety hazards.

Position Qualifications:

  • Education: Active, unrestricted RN licensure, Alaska licensure.
  • License and Certifications: Basic Life Support certification.
  • Experience: 1 year acute care experience preferred.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
    • Nursing process and ability to apply in the working environment.
    • Customer service principles.
    • Safety and infection control principles.
  • Skilled in:
    • Completing assessments, anticipating needs, and specimen collection.
    • Use of equipment such as computers and medical equipment.
    • Effective oral and written communications skills.
  • Ability to:
    • Multi-task and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
    • Team-player.
    • Willing to teach when appropriate.
    • Problem-solve and use critical thinking skills to develop and maintain good working relations with other staff and departments.
