Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Restorative Nurse to join our team at Regency Healthcare and Rehab. As a Restorative Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing rehabilitation and restorative care to our residents, ensuring they achieve and maintain optimal physical, mental, and psychosocial functioning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and direct Restorative Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA's) to ensure high-quality care.
  • Perform treatments for assigned residents and document treatment as required by Regency, state, and federal regulations.
  • Participate in orientation and in-service training for personnel to ensure they are equipped to provide excellent care.
  • Initiate rehabilitation and restorative Functional Maintenance Plans upon discharge from skilled therapy.
  • Collaborate with the Dietary Manager and Registered Dietitian to implement weight prevention programs.
  • Report and record pertinent observations and reactions regarding residents' status and any significant changes.
  • Coordinate nursing care for residents scheduled for therapy or procedures by other departments.
  • Assist with or institute emergency measures for sudden adverse developments in residents.
  • Initiate restorative nursing when formalized rehabilitation therapy or restorative need arises during a custodial stay.
  • Ensure the Resident Care Needs Assessment (RCNA) FMP document is within measurable objectives and interventions within the care plan.
  • Ensure residents have the proper equipment to prevent further decline, such as positioning and splinting.
  • Assess new residents for any disability or weakness and need for therapy, as well as those who have concluded therapy services.
  • Determine residents' joints that require range of motion exercises.
  • Consult with residents' physicians or physical therapists for limitations or precautions for specific exercises as needed.
  • Obtain orders from attending physicians for skilled therapy with prompt implementation.
  • Assist with preparation, implementation, and continuing evaluation of residents' care plans quarterly and with any significant change in condition.
  • Assist in determining residents' needs and individualized care, if needed.
  • Provide emotional support to residents and their families, if needed.
  • Complete Minimum Data Set (MDS) as outlined by facility policy and procedure.
  • Attend care plan, Medicare, and rehab meetings.
  • Promote interpersonal relationships and develop staff morale.
  • Ensure inventory and supplies are maintained on the unit/hall and communicate needs for housekeeping, maintenance, and dietary assistance.
  • Answer resident call lights and ensure all residents are checked frequently.
  • Report any suspected abuse to the Director of Nursing/Administrator immediately.
Qualifications

  • Graduate of accredited LPN/LVN School of Nursing.
  • Valid LPN/LVN license from the State of Alabama.
  • Valid CPR certification.
  • One year experience in nursing preferred.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with residents and their family members, and at all levels of the facility.
