Public Sector Claims Leadership Position

With over 30 specialty and property and casualty operations, our Public Sector Division provides customized insurance programs for local, county, and state governments, education organizations, and special services districts. We're one of the leading public entity writers in the industry, with business across the U.S. and Canada.
As a key member of our team, you'll be responsible for managing a book of complex primary, direct excess, and reinsurance claims involving Public Sector risks. This includes professional liability, general liability, automobile, school board legal liability, employment practices liability, law enforcement liability, and public officials liability exposures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Investigate and maintain claims, reviewing and evaluating coverage and/or liability, and securing necessary information in the investigation of claims.
- Work toward the resolution of claims files, attending arbitrations, mediations, depositions, or trials as necessary.
- Affect settlements/reserves within prescribed limits and submit recommendations to supervisor on cases exceeding personal authority.
- Convey highly complex information to all appropriate parties, maintaining a professional demeanor in all situations.
- Ensure that claims payments are issued in a timely and accurate manner.
Requirements:
- JD (Juris Doctorate) preferred; Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
- 8 to 10 years of related experience, with multi-lines claims handling experience preferred.
- Experience in litigation, professional and general liability, coverage, and reinsurance preferred.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, time management skills, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft365 suite of products.
Compensation:
As a valued member of our team, you can expect a salary range of $85,000.00 to $140,000.00, depending on your experience and qualifications. We also offer competitive healthcare, retirement, and paid time off benefits for full-time and part-time benefit-eligible employees.
