Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure accurate patient registration, including demographic details and current insurance coverage.
  • Input and update referral information in the electronic health record system as necessary.
  • Gather relevant information regarding the patient's medical history and referral requirements.
  • Engage with review organizations and insurance providers to confirm compliance with prior authorization protocols.
  • Provide essential medical data, including patient history, diagnosis, and prognosis.
  • Supply specific medical information to financial services to optimize reimbursement for the healthcare facility and physicians.
  • Discuss referral details and expectations with patients to ensure clarity.
  • Assist patients in navigating potential challenges related to the healthcare system, including financial or social obstacles.
  • Identify and leverage cultural and community resources, establishing strong relationships with service providers.
  • Ensure timely processing of referrals to enhance patient care.
  • Keep the patient's primary care chart updated with information on specialist consultations, hospital admissions, emergency room visits, and community resources.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Abilities:
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication capabilities.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Excellent organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred.
Education and Experience:
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A minimum of one year of experience in referrals or a related medical office setting is necessary.
  • Experience with electronic medical record systems is advantageous.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer.
  • Must be capable of lifting up to 10 pounds occasionally.

Work Type: Full-time

Compensation: Starting pay at $21.00 per hour, commensurate with experience.
