Job Summary:

The Nurse Practitioner serves as an essential member of the patient care team, responsible for delivering direct and indirect care utilizing the NP scope of practice. The NP will assess health status, develop and execute interventions collaboratively with the clinical team, and evaluate patient responses. Duties may be delegated according to the education and practice standard of the team member. A Maine Urgent Care Medical Director will be available to assist or supervise the Nurse Practitioner in patient evaluation and management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serves as the champion of the patient experience, engaging patients with exceptional customer service practices.
  • Performs physical examinations on patients of all ages, including medical, family, and social history.
  • Documents all patient visits in the electronic medical record in a timely manner.
  • Interprets subjective and objective data to formulate a diagnosis and develops treatment plans within the provider's scope of practice.
  • Orders and interprets diagnostic laboratory tests, EKGs, and radiological studies, and enters all orders for treatments and medications.
  • Prescribes pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions and provides patient education and counseling.
  • Makes appropriate referrals to other health professionals and community agencies and participates in the quality improvement process.

Requirements:

  • Experience and proficiency in interpreting x-rays.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills and ability.
  • Ability to prioritize patients by level of acuity and establish and maintain effective patient relationships.
  • Ability to work under pressure with precision and accuracy and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
