Role Overview:

In the position of School Psychologist, you will be an integral part of our collaborative and supportive Deafblind Program. You will have the opportunity to work in an environment where the needs of students are prioritized, and your contributions can have a significant global impact.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct psychotherapeutic counseling, both individually and in groups, while conducting diagnostic assessments for students who are blind, visually impaired, Deafblind, or multiply impaired.
  • Provide in-service training on clinical matters to program staff and engage with families of enrolled students.
  • Offer case management services and develop individualized and group behavior management strategies.
  • Implement crisis intervention strategies within classroom settings and provide ongoing support regarding behavioral challenges to program staff.
  • Conduct or coordinate psycho-diagnostic evaluations for students on a regular basis.
  • Collaborate as a member of a unique interdisciplinary team that delivers educational, vocational, and residential services.

Impactful Contributions:

  • Participate in interdisciplinary evaluation teams and act as a liaison with other mental health professionals.
  • Provide crisis intervention and facilitate referrals to specialists as necessary.
  • Design and implement behavior management programs tailored to individual student needs, ensuring consistent application across relevant parties.
  • Consult with families on approved behavior management techniques.
  • Contribute to research initiatives focused on individuals with visual impairments and related disabilities.
  • Develop or adapt assessment tools for use with students who are blind, visually impaired, Deafblind, or multiply impaired.
  • Engage in program meetings, case reviews, and IEP meetings, preparing reports on student progress and needs.
  • Deliver formal and informal training sessions for staff members.
  • Assist in the evaluation and placement of individuals referred for services and participate in interdisciplinary discussions regarding admissions and programming.
  • Contribute to the field through workshops, presentations, research, and publications in professional journals.
  • Supervise field placements and mentor undergraduate and graduate students as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records and prepare reports based on student assessments and observations.
  • Collect and analyze statistical data related to service delivery as required.

Qualifications:

  • A Master's Degree from a National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) accredited institution in school psychology is required.
  • Massachusetts DESE Certification as a School Psychologist is mandatory, along with a minimum of three years of experience in the field.
