Occupational Therapist

We are seeking a highly skilled Occupational Therapist to join our team at Stony Brook Medicine. As an Occupational Therapist, you will play a vital role in providing clinical services to our patient population, promoting independence and enhancing quality of life.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement occupational therapy treatment programs for inpatients and outpatients, including evaluation, treatment, and prevention of disabilities, injuries, and conditions.
- Fabricate and modify patient splints, including design, assessment, and monitoring.
- Perform activities of daily living, directing and aiding patients in tasks such as transfer training, bed mobility, hygiene, grooming, dressing, and self-feeding.
- Direct and train patients in the care and use of upper extremity prosthetics, orthotic devices, and assistive and adaptive equipment.
- Consult with other healthcare team members, including physicians, concerning goals and treatment plans.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor or Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
- NYS License or eligibility.
- Experience as a licensed Occupational Therapist in an acute care setting is preferred.

This function/position may be designated as "essential." Before starting, the selected candidate must meet the following requirements:
- Successfully complete a pre-employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook Medicine's Employee Health Services.
- Complete an electronic reference check with a minimum of three professional references.
- Successfully complete a 5-panel drug screen.
- Successfully complete a Background Check investigation.
- Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).
Failure to comply with any of the above requirements could result in a delayed start date and/or revocation of the employment offer.
