Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Nursing Assistant to join our team at the University of Michigan. As a Nursing Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting our healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Obtain vital signs, temperature, height/length, weight, oxygen saturation, and pain scores, and report abnormal values to the Registered Nurse.
  • Utilize palpation/auscultation and Doppler to determine heart rate and blood pressure.
  • Monitor and report the physical condition of assigned patients.
  • Measure and record intake and output.
  • Assist with specimen collection, including urine, stool, sputum, and swabs.
  • Perform point-of-care testing and maintain and calibrate equipment and supplies.
  • Assist with intravenous lines, including discontinuing peripheral IVs and removing peripheral IV dressings.
  • Provide patient care, including assisting with personal hygiene, oral care, skin care, and preventative skin care.
  • Transport patients, equipment, and medical records as needed.
  • Document care provided and maintain accurate records.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 6 months of experience in a skilled long-term facility, acute care hospital, or completion of a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) program.
  • Ability to read and write.
  • Ability to perform a wide range of physical activities, including moving, transporting, and positioning patients and equipment.
Work Schedule

The shifts will be on a rotation, including days, evenings, nights, and weekends.

Work Modes

Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department.
