Position Overview:
The UPMC Center for Emergency Medicine is seeking a dedicated Full-Time Pilot to operate within the STAT MedEvac system.
Role and Responsibilities:
The Pilot in Command is a vital member of the critical care transport team, entrusted with the ultimate responsibility for the safe operation of the assigned aircraft during all flights. Key responsibilities include:
- Ensuring the aircraft's airworthiness and maintaining all FAA-required qualifications and documentation.
- Conducting flight operations in strict adherence to established policies and FAA regulations.
- Utilizing independent judgment to ensure the safest and most efficient transport of patients in dynamic operational conditions.
- Collaborating with team members to uphold the highest standards of safety and operational excellence.
Essential Duties:
- Arriving for duty well-rested and fit for service, in compliance with drug and alcohol policies.
- Coordinating with flight followers regarding operational readiness, including duty time and weather conditions.
- Responding promptly to service requests while prioritizing flight safety.
- Actively contributing to the development of a robust safety culture within the organization.
- Completing all necessary documentation accurately and on time, including training records and incident reports.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive knowledge of STAT MedEvac policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with operational goals. Responsibilities also include:
- Maintaining personal health and fitness for duty, including compliance with medical certifications.
- Conducting thorough preflight and postflight inspections to ensure aircraft readiness.
- Serving as a mentor for newly hired pilots, assisting in their training and integration.
