GENERAL SUMMARY AND PURPOSE:
Under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician plays a crucial role in delivering pharmaceutical care to a diverse clientele. This includes ensuring the accuracy of medication packaging and outcomes while adhering to state and federal regulations.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
The ideal candidate must possess a valid Pharmacy Technician license from the appropriate state board of pharmacy. National Certification (CPhT, ExCPT, or equivalent) is preferred, along with a maximum of three years of relevant experience.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Pharmacy Technician is expected to:
- Understand and embody the organization's Mission, Vision, and Values in daily practices and decisions.
- Assist pharmacists in the preparation of prescriptions, which encompasses material resource management, dispensing, clerical, and billing tasks.
- Ensure accurate documentation of services and supplies provided to patients, contributing to effective revenue management.
- Engage in quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Recognize the limitations of a registered technician's responsibilities in medication dispensing and operate within the defined scope of practice.
- Transport medications to patient care areas and retrieve unused medications from those locations.
Excellent communication skills are essential, along with the ability to foster a collaborative team environment. The candidate should demonstrate adaptability to institutional roles and schedules.
