SALARY: $65,000 - $70,000

Position Summary:

The Housing Retention Services Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily functions of multiple housing and rapid re-housing initiatives aimed at providing effective retention and housing solutions for homeless individuals and families throughout the region. Proof of COVID-19 vaccination is required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the Housing and Rapid Re-Housing Programs, assessing program needs and making informed recommendations.
  • Plan and coordinate a variety of case management and life skills retention services to assist formerly homeless households, demonstrating the ability to work autonomously while guiding staff towards achieving program objectives.
  • Develop and implement processes that enable staff to meet program goals and client requirements, ensuring quality and efficiency in retention and housing services. Conduct regular supervision to monitor staff performance and development.
  • Identify new housing opportunities for clients through ongoing networking, and locate available units for various agency programs, striving to meet monthly apartment finding targets.
  • Manage multiple programs concurrently while adhering to various deadlines.
  • Provide crisis intervention and stabilization support as necessary, which may involve after-hours follow-up for emergencies or meetings with landlords and realtors.
  • Maintain comprehensive weekly and monthly reports, review rent adjustments, leases, HUD documentation, and timesheets; ensure client files meet departmental requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with housing laws and building codes by landlords and management companies, reviewing lease agreements for adherence to legal standards. Provide mediation and advocacy for landlords and property management, offering accurate information and conducting inspections as needed.
  • Participate in weekly cross-departmental meetings and mandatory Continuum of Care meetings.
  • Perform additional related tasks as assigned by the Director.

Qualifications:

A Bachelor's Degree is required; a Master's in Public Administration or a related field is preferred. Fluency in Spanish is highly desirable. Flexibility to work evenings and attend open houses during weekends is necessary. Proven ability to maintain professional relationships with realtors, landlords, and external partners. Experience in community outreach and group leadership is essential. Strong negotiation skills on behalf of clients and programs are required. Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google Docs is expected. A valid NYS driver's license and access to a vehicle are mandatory.
