Job Summary:

As a Surgical Technologist at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of surgical procedures. Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse or physician, you will assist in preparing the operating room, maintaining a safe environment, and providing support to the surgical team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in preparing the operating room, including setting up equipment and supplies.
  • Maintain a safe and clean environment, adhering to standard precautions and infection control protocols.
  • Provide support to the surgical team, including passing instruments, holding retractors, and assisting with patient transfer and transport.
  • Participate in departmental performance improvement activities, including planning, measuring, and assessing processes to improve patient care and outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the Registered Nurse to ensure effective communication and coordination of patient care.
Requirements:
  • Two years of experience in operating room scrubbing or equivalent military experience, including a variety of surgical procedures.
  • Graduate of an approved surgical technologist program or military equivalent.
  • Surgical Technologist Certificate from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting or National Center for Competency Testing Certificate - Technologist in Surgery.
  • Basic Life Support certification.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with the surgical team.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
