Position Overview
The Virtual Nursing Specialist is an integral part of the Nursing Care Team, tasked with the collaboration, communication, and facilitation of optimal patient care through digital platforms that support daily care management.
This role encompasses the assessment, planning, implementation, coordination, monitoring, and evaluation of the patient's care plan from admission through to discharge.
Utilizing clinical expertise, critical thinking, and the principles of case management and adult education, the specialist coordinates, implements, and supports the care plan.
Ensuring a seamless, effective, and efficient transition of care across the healthcare continuum is paramount. The specialist is also responsible for monitoring quality metrics specific to the department and ensuring thorough and accurate documentation in the patient record.
Key Responsibilities:
1) Mentor; 2) Clinician; 3) Educator; 4) Consultant/Collaborator; 5) Navigator.
Professional Expectations
The licensed Registered Nurse (RN) is expected to plan and deliver professional nursing services in accordance with their level of experience and education, as well as state nursing board regulations and established policies and procedures.
The RN integrates the art and science of nursing, leadership, and clinical knowledge through relationship-centered, compassionate, ethical, and respectful direct and indirect care.
Senior RN III Role:
This role meets the expectations of a level II RN, providing care or knowledge to patients with complex needs, advancing shared governance, collaborating interprofessionally, delegating responsibilities to enhance care, and assuming expanded roles and increased responsibilities. The RN is also expected to lead small teams, serve as a mentor within the unit or service, and identify the learning needs of others.
