Library Media Specialist

The Alabama Department of Education is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Library Media Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our educational staff, you will be responsible for providing leadership and support for the development and implementation of educational programs and services in our schools.

• Program Development and Implementation
  • Develop and implement educational programs and services that align with the department's strategic goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other stakeholders to design and deliver high-quality educational programs.
• Collection Development and Management
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive collection of educational resources and materials that support the department's educational programs.
  • Ensure that the collection is relevant, accurate, and accessible to students and staff.
• Information Literacy and Technology Integration
  • Provide training and support to students and staff on information literacy and technology skills.
  • Integrate technology into educational programs and services to enhance student learning and engagement.
• Community Engagement and Outreach
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community partners and stakeholders to support educational programs and services.
  • Engage with the community to promote educational programs and services and to identify opportunities for collaboration and partnership.
• Professional Development and Leadership
  • Provide leadership and support for the professional development of educational staff.
  • Collaborate with other educational leaders to develop and implement professional development programs and services.

• Master's Degree in Library Science or a related field
• Experience in educational program development and implementation
• Strong leadership and collaboration skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities
