Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Welding Specialist to join our team at Mid-State Machine. As a key member of our fabrication team, you will be responsible for cutting and joining metals and other materials to create high-quality structures and components.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints to plan layouts and procedures
  • Determine the most suitable welding equipment or method based on project requirements
  • Set up components for welding according to specifications
  • Cut material with powered saws to match precise measurements
  • Operate angle grinders to prepare parts for welding
  • Align components using precision tools and clamp pieces in place
  • Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions
  • Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps
  • Inspect welded surfaces and structures to detect any flaws
  • Maintain equipment in a safe and operational condition

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Proven experience as a welder
  • Experience using various welding equipment and procedures (TIG, MMA, etc.)
  • Experience with electrical or manual tools (saws, squares, calipers, etc.)

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of safety standards and willingness to use protective gear
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings
  • Deftness and attention to detail

Work Environment:

  • Must be able to work in various weather conditions while wearing appropriate PPE

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand for long periods and walk distances through the shop and fields
  • Must be able to use hands and arms for handling, installing, and moving materials
  • Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as needed
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 100lbs occasionally
