Position Overview

Turner & Townsend is on the lookout for a seasoned Mechanical Estimator to oversee a remarkable array of large-scale, mission-critical commercial real estate and infrastructure initiatives for prominent clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver comprehensive estimates and cost planning, culminating in the presentation of the final cost plan.
  • Estimate costs at conceptual, programming, and detailed levels.
  • Contribute to feasibility studies and prepare procurement reports.
  • Manage all procurement aspects, including pre-qualification, bid list creation, bid analysis, bid reporting, and contract documentation compilation.
  • Engage in post-contract cost variance analysis and change control processes, escalating significant changes to the line manager as necessary.
  • Oversee cost checks and valuations on larger projects, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in the cost checking and valuation processes.
  • Generate monthly post-contract cost reports and present findings to clients.
  • Provide insights into value engineering and negotiate final accounts.
  • Maintain communication with clients and other consultants throughout all project phases.
  • Lead the cost management team when required, ensuring accountability in all deliverables.
  • Identify opportunities for business development with existing clients and report these to the appropriate line manager, utilizing the marketing database.
  • Propose enhancements for cost management procedures, templates, and products, referring ideas to the relevant line manager.
Qualifications:
  • Extensive technical experience in all areas of cost management, including pre-contract, post-contract, and final account.
  • Strong presentation, verbal, written, and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Navisworks, and other relevant software.
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to multitask, and a collaborative mindset.
  • In-depth knowledge of various construction procurement methods.
  • Experience advising clients on value management, value engineering, and life cycle costing.
  • Familiarity with key aspects of business development.
  • Broad knowledge and experience across multiple industry sectors.
Education and Experience:
  • Proven experience in preparing mechanical cost estimates for complex construction projects.
  • Experience managing mechanical or MEP estimates on large-scale data centers, high-tech facilities, manufacturing, or commercial real estate projects is preferred.
  • Solid understanding of mechanical systems as they pertain to construction projects.
  • Knowledge of mechanical and plumbing systems.
