Position Overview
Denver Health is on the lookout for a proficient Blood Collection Specialist to become part of our dedicated team. In this role, you will be tasked with drawing blood for various purposes including testing, transfusions, donations, or research. Your contributions will be vital in aiding the detection, diagnosis, and treatment of medical conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Blood Collection: Execute blood draws utilizing different techniques such as vacuum tube, syringe, or butterfly venipuncture.
- Laboratory Analysis: Perform routine tests and ensure safe transport of specimens to laboratories for evaluation.
- Equipment Oversight: Regularly check and maintain specimen collection instruments.
- Patient Care: Prioritize patient safety and comfort throughout the procedures.
- Staff Development: Support the training of new employees or medical staff.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Post-secondary Diploma/Certificate in Phlebotomy or Medical Assistance
- Preferred experience of six months in phlebotomy
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to maintain composure in emergency situations
- Familiarity with laboratory terminology and safety protocols
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational abilities and attention to detail
- Basic proficiency in computer and hospital information systems
Shift:
Available during daytime hours
Work Type:
PRN/Intermittent
Compensation:
$27.83 per hour
