Position Summary:
Under supervision, the Physician II delivers professional medical services to patients within the Highland General Hospital network. This role includes assisting in the administrative and clinical management of a medical specialty service, as well as providing consultative services in their area of expertise.

The Physician II may also serve as an administrative and professional support to the chief of a specialty service and may assume the chief's responsibilities in their absence.

This position may involve direct supervision of Physician I staff and related duties as necessary.

  • Deliver compassionate, culturally sensitive, and patient-centered care.
  • Supervise Mid-level Practitioners/Certified Nurse Midwives in the designated clinical area.
  • Practice evidence-based medicine and remain current with contemporary standards of care.
  • Provide cost-effective medical care; efficiently manage time and patient flow during direct patient interactions and follow-up tasks.
  • Maintain up-to-date patient care responsibilities, including lab results, medication refills, and radiology reports pertinent to assigned patients.
  • Collaborate effectively with the clinical team, including Medical Assistants, Clerks, Health Educators, Panel Managers, Nurses, and Pharmacy staff, to enhance care quality and service delivery.
  • Educate patients, families, and staff; offer counseling services aimed at promoting healthy practices.

Qualifications:

Minimum Experience:
Completion of an accredited residency in an appropriate medical specialty.

Required Licenses/Certifications:

Completion of CPI-Crisis Prevention Intervention Training (mandatory for specific roles); Basic Life Support Certification from the American Heart Association or PALS or ACLS; a valid Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) Number.


Required Licenses/Certifications:

Possession of a current valid medical license to practice in California, along with Board Certification or Board Eligibility in the relevant specialty. Board Certification must be achieved within three years of employment commencement.

Applicants with a California Postgraduate Training License may apply but must possess a valid medical license to practice in California before beginning employment.
