Clinical Excellence and Patient Care

As a Medical Assistant at UnityPoint Health, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care. Your responsibilities will include assisting providers and clinical staff with obtaining vital information, preparing patients for examinations and treatments, and performing minor surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist providers and clinical staff with obtaining basic vital information and preparing patients for examinations and treatments
  • Perform minor surgical procedures and administer ordered medical and/or vaccines
  • Track system for follow-up appointments and schedule referrals for patients with specialists or outpatient services
  • Complete appropriate forms or requisitions for referrals or lab testing, including CPT/ICD-10 coding
  • Provide patient education and answer questions to patients and family members

Development and Patient Education

You will also be responsible for providing patient education and answering questions to patients and family members. This includes thoroughly understanding testing values and relationships to patient status, as well as maintaining compliance with CLIA, OSHA, Safety and Risk Management guidelines.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited program for Medical Assistants
  • Current CME certification for Certified Medical Assistant and AAMA, NCCT, RMA or NHA certification
  • BLS and Mandatory Reporter certification
  • Valid driver's license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons
