We are seeking a skilled Patient Care Assistant to join our team at Huntsville Hospital Health System. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care and support to our patients and families.
Key Responsibilities- Measure and record vital signs, including blood pressure, respirations, temperature, and pulse rate.
- Assist with bathing, mouth care, ambulation, and other patient care activities.
- Feed patients and calculate meal consumption percentages.
- Prepare skin for surgical procedures and utilize turning and devices to prevent pressure ulcers.
- Keep patient environments clean and free of clutter.
- Collect specimens and perform total baths, perineal care, and oral hygiene.
- Assist with ambulation, positioning, and transferring patients.
- Understand and apply principles of DVT prophylaxis and provide care to patients with colostomies and foley catheters.
- Remove foley catheters and intravenous lines and follow implemented strategies for fall reduction.
- Perform non-sterile dressing changes and hunt and gather supplies for RNs.
- High school graduate or GED required.
- No previous experience required, but current BLS certification is a plus.
