Key Responsibilities
  • Oversees patient flow and clinical operations by securing necessary resources for optimal patient care, working closely with charge nurses to ensure proper staffing levels.
  • Acts as a leader in the absence of administrative personnel during off-hours, weekends, and holidays, providing guidance to nursing staff when clinical managers and directors are unavailable.
  • Leads daily safety huddles and collaborates with the Emergency Department during defined overcrowding stages, which may involve frequent rounds in the ED.
  • Makes critical staffing decisions, including the reassignment of nursing personnel and support staff as needed.
  • Assesses emergency room surges and collaborates with the ED to facilitate patient flow and care.
  • Ensures adequate staffing levels and manages the use of sitters and restraints effectively.
  • Guarantees compliance with care provision, restraint usage, safety, and regulatory standards.
  • Administers rapid response protocols and ensures adherence to urgent care procedures, including responding to emergencies and codes.
  • Provides operational, administrative, and clinical support to patient care areas and leadership.
  • Enhances systems that support patient care delivery.
  • Maintains a supportive care environment, actively engaging with clinical staff to assist in patient care activities.
  • Addresses staff concerns, navigates change, and fosters a positive work atmosphere.
  • Leads disaster management efforts in the absence of higher management, ensuring service recovery for patients and families.
Additional Duties
  • Performs other assigned tasks as necessary.
  • Adheres to all organizational policies and standards.

  • Must comply with all regulations regarding the secure handling of Protected Health Information (PHI) for patients, including annual training and adherence to the organization's Code of Conduct.
QualificationsEducation Requirements
  • Associate's Degree (Required) or
  • Other Accredited Program (Required) and
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (Preferred) or
  • Master's Degree in Nursing (Preferred)
Experience
  • 3+ years of clinical nursing experience (Required) and
  • Experience in critical care, supervisory roles, or Emergency Department settings is strongly preferred.
Skills and Competencies
  • Demonstrated clinical competence (Required proficiency).
  • Strong leadership, management, and interpersonal skills (Required proficiency).
  • Knowledge of insurance, hospital, and professional regulations (Preferred proficiency).

Licenses and Certifications
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio and/or Multi-State Compact License (Required) and
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (Required)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (Required)
Physical Requirements
  • Frequent standing, walking, lifting, and carrying (up to 50 lbs).
  • Occasional climbing and balancing.
  • Constant communication and coordination skills.
