Sinclair Broadcast Group is seeking a dedicated Television Broadcast Technician to join our team. This role involves the installation and upkeep of video, audio, and various equipment integral to television transmission. The technician will work with systems such as server-based recording and playback, non-linear editing suites, production switchers, routing switchers, MPEG encoders, decoders, automation systems, newsroom computer systems, data networks, and broadcast transmission apparatus.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the maintenance and repair of transmitters (AM, FM, TV, Microwave, Fiber, satellite, etc.), receivers, cameras, switchers, graphic systems, audio devices, video tape systems, routers, automation/editing systems, intercoms, two-way radios, monitors, and display units.
- Assist in budget preparation to facilitate the introduction of new technologies.
- Deliver technical assistance to operational staff.
- Engage in consultations with engineering management and fellow engineers regarding technical matters as necessary.
- Produce detailed engineering signal flow diagrams for CAD documentation related to all technical work conducted.
- Execute all technical tasks adhering to established engineering standards and practices.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in broadcasting.
- Strong grasp of core hardware, computer systems, and electrical systems.
- Experience with microwave technology, transmitters, and satellite systems is advantageous.
- Self-driven with the ability to operate efficiently without direct oversight.
- Proficient in troubleshooting issues and effectively conveying solutions to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Capability to interpret and comprehend technical documentation.
- Possession of a valid driver's license.
- Flexibility to accommodate changes in shifts, including extended hours, weekends, and evenings.
- Physical ability to work on ladders, remain standing for extended periods, and lift equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
- An associate degree or higher in electronics or a related discipline is preferred.
- A bachelor's degree is highly regarded.
