The Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) and Movement Disorder Clinical Manager plays a pivotal role in leading the development and implementation of evidence-based care for patients with deep brain stimulation and movement disorders. This position requires a unique blend of clinical expertise, leadership skills, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to achieve optimal standards of care and measurable outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide leadership and expertise to the team responsible for promoting evidence-based care of the deep brain stimulation and movement disorder patient population.
- Collaborate with the Chief of Neurosurgery, Clinical Neurophysiologist, and the interdisciplinary clinical team to achieve optimal standards of care.
- Manage a group of clinically complex or resource-intensive patients, providing clinical care and advocating for their needs.
- Work with Neurologists and Neurophysiologists to adjust DBS contact configurations and stimulating parameters to optimize symptom benefit and minimize side effects.
- Develop and implement protocols for the subspecialty service line, including post-operative management and patient education.
- Provide education and training to nursing staff and OR teams on best practices related to neuroscience and DBS.
- Assist in hiring and managing a team to support the development of the subspecialty service line.
- Contribute to strategic planning to build out the program and ensure its success.
