Job Summary

Auburn University at Montgomery is seeking a highly qualified Clinical Assistant Professor to join our team as a Master Teacher in the AUMTeach program. This is a full-time, twelve-month position that will play a critical role in advancing the recruitment and instructional endeavors of the AUMTeach program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Organize and oversee recruitment events to attract students from various backgrounds, including junior and senior high school students, current STEM majors, and transfer students from partner institutions.
  • Teach AUMTeach courses, including Step 1: Inquiry Approaches to Teaching, Step 2: Inquiry-Based Lesson Design, and other relevant subjects.
  • Observe and supervise students during field experiences and apprentice teaching in area public schools.
  • Recruit, train, and retain mentor teachers within partner school systems.
  • Attend the annual UTeach conference and workshops to stay updated on best practices.
  • Collaborate with the AUMTeach team, UTeach Institute, and partner school systems to develop and implement effective educational programs.
  • Develop partnerships with additional schools and community organizations to expand educational opportunities and field experiences for AUMTeach students.
  • Participate in student support activities, including tracking students and identifying those in need of additional support.
Requirements
  • A Class A Alabama Professional Educator's Certificate.
  • A Master's degree or higher in Secondary Education or a STEM field.
  • A minimum of five years of experience as a secondary classroom teacher, with a preference for public school experience.
  • Expertise in the appropriate use of instructional technology.
  • Interest in preparing secondary STEM teachers for public education positions.
  • Willingness to support the mission of AUMTeach and the UTeach Institute.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with the AUMTeach Team, UTeach Institute, and partner school systems.
Benefits
  • A competitive salary of $55,000 for a twelve-month appointment.
  • 15 credit hours of free course work annually (after 1 year of service) to pursue an Ed.S., Ed.D., or Ph.D. within the Auburn University System.
